These days I seem to think a lot

The great Jackson Browne wrote this song at the ripe age of 16. But it wasn't until 1967 when one of the greatest songs first was recorded by the German Chanteuse Nico for her first album Chelsea Girls.

"These Days" has been covered by many great artists including Jackson himself since 1967. Thanks to Wes Anderson's The Royal Tenenbaums, Nico's version has been rediscovered by a new generation of music enthusiasts.

I've been really introspective lately and "These Days" fits the mood that I am in. I discovered St. Vincent's version a few months back and have since shared it with my friends. Cate loves it and is going to cover "These Days" at her next coffee house gig.

"These Days" is a hopeful song. I hear it as the singer trying to learn and grow from the choices they've made in their life. We should never forget our failures and missteps. The choices we made, make us who we are today. We are better for losing and falling. I know I am.

And Jackson Browne wrote this when he was sixteen years old? Amazing, all of these beautiful lyrics and themes from such a talented teenager.

"I have not forgotten them." And we will never forget.
